Professor Rajat Gupta delivered a keynote on HEARTH at the 38th International Passive and Low Energy Architecture Conference (PLEA 2026) on Sustainable Architecture and Urban Design, hosted by the University of Costa Rica in  San José (27-31 July 2026), under the theme "Common Sense Architecture: Harnessing Local Wisdom for Sustainable Futures."

  • Bringing together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from over 40 countries, the conference explored passive design, local knowledge, and climate-resilient architecture. The event provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen international collaborations and share evidence that will continue to inform HEARTH's work on heat resilience, health equity, and net-zero transitions.

  • Professor Gupta chaired the opening and closing plenaries alongside three technical sessions in his leadership roles as PLEA Board Member and Secretary. He also presented two peer-reviewed oral papers on overheatimg and indoor air quality.
