Professor Catherine Birch and Dr Caryl Reddington presented a poster on their HEARTH WS1 research, "Humid Heatwaves in the UK: Meteorological Drivers and Health Impacts", at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2026 (EGU26) in Vienna, Austria between 3 and 8 May 2026. The poster was presented within Session NH1.9 on Extreme heat, its drivers, and societal impacts.
The work explores the meteorological characteristics of humid heat extremes in the UK and their potential implications for human health.
The conference provided an opportunity to engage with researchers across climate science, health, and impacts disciplines, supporting the dissemination of HEARTH research and fostering new collaborations on humid heat and health impacts.
