Chaired by Professor Mike Davies (UCL), the third Care Settings Working Group (CSWG) meeting on 6 October 2026 brought together over 17 representatives from the HEARTH team and cross-sector partners. Key stakeholders spanned public health and policy (Public Health Scotland, Care Quality Commission), local governance and housing (Oxfordshire County Council, Soha Housing), and industry leaders (Architype).

The session focused on empirical evidence of social housing heat exposure, with key research findings highlighting indoor temperatures reaching up to 34°C during heatwaves, with night-time levels exceeding 25°C and microclimate variations up to 8°C, which drive measurable physiological heat strain while exposing severe practical cooling barriers and critical limitations in current building guidance (Part O/TM59).
